In 1977, Punjab Government separated Bahawalpur Division from Multan and recognized B.I.S.E. Bahawalpur as a separate Independent Education Board. The Bahawalpur Board Camp Office was established at Multan on 9 July 1977 and the consent of the staff of the Multan Board was taken for the Bahawalpur Board. On 3 February 1978, the Bahawalpur Board started functioning in a rented building at Bahawalpur and the first supplementary examination of 1978 was held in mid-1978 upon completion of the staff.
