Domestic Career
Neesham began his first-class career with Auckland, but found success after a switch with the Otago Volts. In the 2011–12 season, he made some significant contributions in the 50-over format, scoring 40 or more three times in seven innings, all of which came at a run or more per ball. He took 5 for 44 against Wellington and 4 for 23 against Canterbury, adding to his tally. He was selected for the limited-overs squads for the tour of South Africa, and the benefits soon came.
International Career
Neesham made his Test debut against India and recorded the best debut score by a Test No. 8 batsman with an unbeaten 137. He scored a century in his second Test against the West Indies in June 2014, making history as the first New Zealander to do so. .
Neesham was selected in New Zealand’s 15-man squad for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
On 3 January 2019, Nesham scored 34 runs in an over in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, including five sixes. These were the most runs by a New Zealand ODI batsman in an over.
In August 2021, Neesham was included in the New Zealand squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Jimmy Neesham World Cup Performance
Jimmy Neesham had a brilliant performance with both the bat and his performance in the World Cup final against England where he took three wickets and leveled the game with a run out on the last delivery, one of his best performances. There was one. He was given the bat in the Super Over & managed to score 13 runs off 5 balls including a big six against Jofra Archer in World Cup 2019 in the Final match. When Martin Guptill was run out trying to score the second run that would have given New Zealand the World Cup, he was at the non-end striker on the last ball.

Nesham scored a century on his Test debut against India in February 2014 and was at the other end when captain Brendon McCullum became the first Black Cap to score a triple century in Tests. When he scored a century against the West Indies in Jamaica, he became only the eighth player in Test history to do so.
