Wanindu Hasaranga is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the national team in all formats (T20, ODI & Test). Hasringa made his international debut for Sri Lanka in 2017 and is now one of the best spinners in international cricket. His consistent performance in ODIs and T20s caught the attention of the cricketing world. Hasringa had a brilliant performance in 2021 when he managed to take a hat-trick against South Africa in the T20 World Cup. Hasringa entered the IPL arena when Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him in the 2021 IPL auction. He made his IPL debut against KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) in Sep 2021. Wanindu Hasaranga Career
Domestic Career
Hasranga made his List A debut on 30 Nov, 2015 in the AIA Premier Limited Over tournament. Based on his performance in the domestic circuit, he was soon included in the national team’s U-19 squad for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. 2016. Hasaranga took 07 wickets in the tournament & helped Sri Lanka reach the semifinals, where they lost to India.
The leg spinner made his 1st class debut for Sri Lanka Cricket Club in the 2015 & 2016 season of the Premier League tournament. His impressive form over the next year and a half led to Hasringa being named the Most Promising Player at Home for the 2016–2017 season at the Sri Lanka Cricket Annual Awards.
International Career
Wanindu Hasranga made his debut for Sri Lanka in international cricket on 02 July 2017 against Zimbabwe in a one-day international in his hometown of Galle. By doing so, Hasringa became the youngest player in the history of ODI cricket to take a hat-trick on debut. He also joined Bangladesh’s Tejul Islam and South African speedster Kagiso Rabada as the only debutants to take a hat-trick in ODIs. Not to mention, he created history by becoming the only leg-spinner to take a hat-trick in ODI cricket.
Hasringa was part of the 33 players signed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board ahead of the start of the 2018-19 season. Soon after, he made his debut for Sri Lanka in a T20 International against New Zealand at Pallikele on 01 September 2019.
