Samad began his cricketing journey at a young age and made his Twenty20 debut for Jammu & Kashmir in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He then made his List A debut in the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy and his first-class debut in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Samad has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (2020-2024) and Lucknow Super Giants (2025). He was purchased by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹4.2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.
